Professor Hasegawa explained the extent of progress made and problems encountered in Timor-Leste and other developing countries in trying to achieve eight goals and related specific targets.
He reviewed how countries of different regions are taking steps to “eradicate extreme poverty and hunger”, “improve Universal primary education”, “promote gender equality and empower women”, “reduce child mortality”, “improve maternal health”, “combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases”, “ensure environmental sustainability”, and “develop a global partnership for development”.
