Professor Sukehiro Hasegawa of Hosei University delivered two lectures on peace mission leadership and democratic policing to African police officers during the first week of the training course held in Cairo from 6 to 17 December 2009. The training course was part of the global peace efforts to increase the capacity of African peacekeepers and funded by Germany and Italy. About 25 African police officers and civilian personnel participated in the training.
