On 14 June 2011, the Hasegawa seminar held a welcome party for H.E. Mr. Isilio Antonio de Fatima Coelho da Silva Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and Mr. Tadeu Marcelino Soares Third Secretary at The South Lounge 26th Floor of The Boissonade Tower Hosei University Ichigaya Campus.
Mr. Tsurunen Marutei, Member of the House of Councilors and Chairman of the Association of Japanese Parliamentarians for Timor-Leste, Motohiro Oono, Member of the House of Councilors and Akihiro Hatsushika, Member of the House of Representative made welcoming remarks. They expressed the Japanese people`s gratitude for the help and donation made by Timor-Leste for the tsunami and earthquake disaster by Timor-Leste and they were encouraging to continue the support to Timor-Leste by Japan.
Mr. Isilio Antonio de Fatima Coelho da Silva Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste indicated that Japan’s continuing assistance for peace and development to Timor-Leste had been working well. He said that the Timorese people wanted to strengthen the tie between Japan and Timor-Leste through more human interaction such as students. Finally, he expressed his hope that the students from Senshu, Waseda and Hosei Universities will have fruitful visits to Timor-Leste later this year.
After the Timorese Ambassador’s greetings, former Japanese Ambassador Shimizu, Mr. Takashi Katae, Director, Second Southeast Asia Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as Profossor Juichi Inada from Senshu University and Professor Mitsuru Yamada from Waseda University provided their remarks.
As the end of this welcoming ceremony, we held a small reception with the invited quests including Ambassador Coelho who spoke with students. (Aimi Ezawa)
